The mission of the library media program is:
- To provide students and staff access to information in a variety of formats.
- To empower them to find, utilize, and interpret information effectively and with confidence.
- To become lifelong users of media.
- To show respect for resources, people, and procedures within the media center.
- To be aware of and receptive to future media developments.
Guided by and consistent with the philosophy statement of the Belton School District, the Belton Library Media Centers are designed to be a source for educational excellence. As an integral part of the total instructional program, the Library Media Centers enhance and support the teaching/learning environment. Through interaction between teachers, administrators, and the Library Media Center personnel, planned programs provide students with optimal educational experiences through a variety of multimedia sources.
The purpose of the Library Media Center program is to encourage and enable each student to become an active participant in lifelong learning. The Library Media Center is the total of its staff, programs, services, collection, facility, and budget.
